Welcome to the Heritage project website for St Paul’s Church, Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire.

This has been a very exciting time for us! Not only have we been able to stop the chancel from falling down due to subsidence and to conserve it, but we have undertaken a wide variety of heritage activities. These activities have involved:

Organising local events through the church.

Researching the heritage of the church and village.

Communicating what's been happening through the local press, through this web-site and through Facebook.


St. Paul's was consecrated in 1837, when Queen Victoria came to the throne. Our Heritage research projects have found answers to queries such as:

Who designed the church?

Who were some of the people whose lives touched the church?

Who's in the graveyard and to whom are memorials raised?

What wildlife and plants inhabit the church and its grounds?

What about the clock, Chancel tiles and lovely glass windows?

What do local people remember of the church and village?


The fantastic generosity of local donors and 3 charities with fundraising events and a very generous Heritage Lottery Fund grant (from National Lottery players), have made these activities possible.
